Welcome RAs!

Welcome to the RLO Family!

Let me be the first to officially welcome all of you to the Residential Living Family. It’s hard to believe that we’re a few short weeks away from RA Training! The RA Training Committee has done a wonderful job of putting together a training schedule that will help all of you be prepared for the RA position. We are excited to begin the year!

As you look towards the start of RA Training, please know that whether you are a returning RA or starting the job for the first time, training is an important time to learn about the RA position and form valuable connections with the entire RLO Team. Being an RA is an incredible responsibility. Because of your work – communities and relationships will form in each of our residence halls. You will play a major role in shaping the experience of your peers at Drexel. In looking back at last year’s New and Returning RA Process, I know the talents and skills that each of you bring to the RA position. I have no doubt that each of you will succeed, but I challenge all of you to come to training ready to learn and engage. This will only make you better prepared for the RA position in this upcoming year.

Take the next few weeks to relax, but to also think about how you plan to form connections with each of your residents. Start thinking about ideas for bulletin boards and door decorations - What messages do you want to send to the residents in your care? Please know that the Office of University Housing is also working diligently to complete room assignments, so your rosters will be available shortly. When that information becomes available, you can begin reaching out to your residents and making those connections and relationships!

Inside this newsletter, you will find information about camp (my favorite part of the year!) and information about the RLO Professional Staff. I am so excited to work with such a talented group of Associate Directors, AD/RDs, and RDs. This staff team will help all o f you get ready for a great year!!!

I cannot wait to personally welcome all of you back to campus in a few weeks. Enjoy the rest of the summer…and get ready to begin the RA journey soon!

Take care,

Subir
